Opening Whistle
Cleveland State returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in ten years when the Green and White travel to the University of Pitt for their First Round game.

2022 Horizon League Champions
The top-seeded Cleveland State men's soccer team won their second Horizon League Tournament Championship after shutting out third-seeded IUPUI 3-0 on Saturday at Krenzler Field. Albert Portas scored the lone goal of the first half in the 27th minute as the Green and White led 1-0 at halftime. Jannis Schmidt doubled the lead in the 56th minute and Pablo Kawecki capped the scoring in the 72nd minute. At the conclusion of the tournament, Albert Portas, Bojan Kolevski, and Pablo Kawecki were named to the All-Tournament Team. Jannis Schmidt was named the MVP.

Postseason History
The Vikings are 4-9-0 in postseason play with their most recent trip coming in 2012, falling at Michigan State, 2-1.

About the Panthers
Pitt is making the tournament for a fourth straight season as the Panthers were selected as an at-large team. Pitt finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-4-5 while posting a 3-2-3 ACC mark.

Pitt placed a total of five players on ACC All-Conference teams, including two on the first team, two on the second team, and one on the freshman team. Filip Mirkovic led the team in points (18) behind three goals and a team-best 12 assists. His assists are fourth in the country. Valentin Noel paces the team with seven goals and is second in points with 17. Joe Van Der Sar has started every game in goal, making 63 saves with six shutouts.

Series History
This will be the sixth meeting between these programs with the Panthers holding a 3-2-0 advantage. Last season, Pitt won on their home field by a final score of 4-0.

Horizon League Honors
Cleveland State received three Horizon League special awards as Bojan Kolevski was named Player of the Year along with Offensive Player of the Year, and Sinisa Ubiparipovic earned Coach of the Year honors. Pablo KaweckiBojan Kolevski, and Jannis Schmidt received First Team honors and Hector Gomez along with Uros Jevtic received Second Team recognition.
