Cleveland State Men's Soccer Blanks Oakland on Alumni Day 1-0

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (8-1-2, 4-0-1) blanked Oakland (2-7-2, 2-1-1) 1-0 on Saturday evening. At halftime, the Vikings welcomed back 20 alumni for recognition.

THE GAME
The opening half went scoreless despite the Green and White holding a commanding 9-2 edge in shots with three on target. The Vikings nearly got on the board in the 40th minute as Albert Portas shot went off the left post.

Cleveland State netted the lone goal of the game in the 56th minute on Danilo Bakoc first collegiate goal off a corner kick with assists going to Jannis Schmidt and Hector Gomez.

The Vikings held a 15-7 edge in shots during the second half and a 24-9 advantage in the game. Portas led the way with seven shots with two on target. Pablo Kawecki was close behind with six shots and two on frame.

Omeed Naeemy picked up his fourth shutout after making three saves.

Cleveland State has now won fourth straight games while extending its unbeaten streak to seven.
