Cleveland State Men's Soccer Falls to No. 8 Marshall, 3-1

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (3-1-0) dropped their first game of the season to No. 8 Marshall (3-1-0) 3-1 on Wednesday evening on Krenzler Field.

THE GAME
The Vikings struck quickly as Bojan Kolevski took advantage of a misplay in the back and scored just three minutes into the game.

Marshall netted the equalizer in the 21st minute as Joao Souza scored with volley off a cross from Milto Yosef. Six minutes later, Yosef curled his corner kick into the far post, giving the Thundering Herd a 2-1 lead.

The visitors added an insurance goal in the 76th minute as Matthew Bell finished off a through ball from Ibrahima Diop as the eighth-ranked team in the nation won 3-1.

Cleveland State held a 6-4 advantage in shots during the second half but was outshot in the game, 11-8. The Vikings also held the edge in corner kicks with six compared to four.

Jannis Schmidt, Albert Portas, and Kolevski finished with two shots apiece. Max Kasputis took the loss after making just one save.
