INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior Jannis Schmidt earned the first Nike® #HLMSOC Offensive Player of the Week, the Horizon League announced Monday afternoon. Schmidt has now earned this honor for the fifth time in his career.

Schmidt helped the Vikings get off to a 1-0 start as the Green and White shutout Canisius 6-0 in their season opener on Thursday evening. Schmidt scored the game's first goal just 44 seconds into the contest.

The Vikings are back in action tonight at UIC with an 8 p.m. kickoff.
