Opening Whistle
The Vikings will hit the road for the first time this season on Monday evening at UIC. This will be the first meeting as non-conference foes as UIC transitioned to the Missouri Valley.

Previous Outing
Cleveland State opened the 2022 campaign with a 4-0 shutout of Canisius on Thursday evening. The Green and White got goals from Jannis Schmidt, Kyle Folds, Bojan Kolevski, and Pablo Kawecki.

About the Flames
UIC opened the season with a 2-0 setback against No. 8 Kentucky on Thursday evening. The Flames were picked third in the Missouri Valley while Andres Vasquez and Pau Mateo were named to the preseason All-Conference team.

All-Time Series
Cleveland State leads the all-time series 22-18-4 and was victorious last season at home, 1-0. Kolevski scored the lone goal in the 38th minute off an assist from Albert Portas. The Green and White have not won in Chicago since 2015.

Horizon League Preseason Poll
Cleveland State was selected to finish second in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, as voted upon by league head coaches. Reigning Horizon League Champions, Oakland topped the Horizon League poll with six first-place votes for 93 points, while the Vikings brought in two first-place votes for 90 points. Milwaukee came in third with a first-place vote for 81 points and Wright State got the last first-place vote for 68 points.

A Look Back at Last Season
The Vikings are coming off a 2021 campaign where they won a program-best eight Horizon League games, including a perfect 5-0 #HLMSOC record at Krenzler Field. With their 8-2 league record the Vikings earned the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Tournament and went on to earn a spot in the Championship Game for the first time since 2012.
