Cleveland State Men's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio – The Vikings dropped their 2021 regular-season finale on the road at Wright State, 4-3. Cleveland State will now have to scoreboard watch to see if they will claim their first-ever Horizon League Regular Season Championship. The Green and White will need an Oakland loss or tie in one of their two final games.

THE GAME
The Vikings netted an early goal in the seventh minute as Pablo Kawecki slotted a through ball to Bojan Kolevski for the first tally of the game. Kolevski doubled the advantage in the 18th minute with his second of the game.

Cleveland State took the 2-0 lead into the intermission despite being outshot 6-3. However, the Green and White held a 3-1 shots on goal lead.

Wright State found the back of the net just nine minutes into the new half as Reece Allbaugh's shot from the top of the box hit the crossbar and rolled in, trimming their deficit to 2-1. The Raiders equalized in the 66th minute as Joe Kouadio crossed it from the right side and Reece Allbaugh one-touched it in.

Kawecki put the Vikings back on top, 3-2 in the 75th minute as his shot from the top of the box curled into the upper right corner. Wright State evened the game for a second time in the 86th minute as Brayden McNitt volleyed it into the back of the net off an initial blocked shot.

The Raiders claimed their first lead of the game in the 88th minute when Reece Allbaugh completed his hat-trick with a shot from just outside the box.

Cleveland State held a 15-12 advantage in shots and 8-6 edge in shots on goal. Wright State took six corners compared to two for the Vikings.

Jannis Schmidt had a team-best four shots with one on target. Omeed Naeemy made two saves in goal.
