Cleveland State Men's Soccer Blanks Northern Kentucky 3-0

Cleveland, Ohio – Cleveland State blanked Northern Kentucky 3-0 on a rainy Saturday night in downtown Cleveland. The Vikings notched their second straight shutout and third of the season. 

THE GAME
The Vikings opened the scoring in the 39th minute as Saahb Kular scored on a scramble in the box, following a blocked shot by Jannis Schmidt off a corner kick.

Cleveland State took the 1-0 advantage into the intermission as the home team held a 9-4 advantage in shots.

Six minutes into the second half, Schmidt played a perfect through ball to Bojan Kolevski, scoring his team-best ninth goal of the year as Cleveland State led 2-0.

In the 60th minute, Schmidt nearly had the third goal when he rocketed a shot from the top of the box, but the ball was cleared off the goal line as the keeper was caught out of position. Just after checking in, Ivan Babic almost bagged a goal in the 86th minute when his shot went off the left post.

Thomas M'Barek capped off the 3-0 victory in the 89th minute, scoring off Schmidt's third assist of the game.

Cleveland State held a 19-8 shots advantage and 9-2 shots on goal edge. The home team took six corner kicks on the evening. Schmidt paced the Green and White with a game-best eight shots with three on frame. Omeed Naeemy made two saves on the evening for his third clean sheet.
