M'Barek Named a Finalist for 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –Cleveland State men's soccer senior defender Thomas M'Barek has been named one of 20 men's and women's soccer student-athletes selected as a finalist for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award, it was announced on Wednesday.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced earlier in the season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through May 3. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2020 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in May.

M'Barek is a seven-time member of the Cleveland State President's List and has appeared on the Men's Soccer All-Horizon League Academic Team in each of his past two seasons. The senior was one of only four players in 2019 to be named to both All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio teams. He leads the men's soccer program with a team-high 3.97 GPA as an international business major. 

A senior from Saint-Aunes, France, M'Barek has appeared in 52 games for the Green in White throughout his four-year career, starting in every contest. The defender has garnered postseason awards in each season, inlcuding being named to the All-Horizon League First Team on defense in 2019, All-Horizon League Second Team on defensve in 2018 and All-Horizon League Freshman Team in 2017.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
