Vikes Record Third Shutout of the Season in Win Over Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – The Cleveland State University men's soccer team snapped its two-game skid with a road win over #HLMSOC opponent Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings, taking a 1-0 victory, recorded their third shutout victory of the 2021 season. Bojan Kolevski scored the game's lone goal, marking his third goal of the campaign.

THE GAME
Although Vikings were outshot by the Panthers 22-5 on Saturday at Engelmann Stadium, they still prevailed with a 1-0 shutout win. Sophomore goalkeeper Omeed Naeemy kept the sheet clean for the third time this season in six games. Coming into Saturday's #HLMSOC match, Naeemy was tied for the top spot in the Horizon League in shutouts.

With under 4:00 to play in the opening half, Jannis Schmidt rocketed a shot towards the goal, but was saved by Panther goalkeeper Nick Chiappa.

Heading into the intermission of Saturday's contest, both teams were knotted up at 0-0.

Junior forward Bojan Kolevski peppered the back of the net with the game's only goal at the 52:31 mark of the second half, to give the Vikings a 1-0 advantage.

Kolevski's goal was all that it took for the Green and White to leave Milwaukee with a win, despite the Panthers tallying 12 shots in the second half of action.

Milwaukee didin't go away quietly, recording six shots in the game's final 15 minutes.

In addition to Schmidt's lone shot one goal, Kolevski tallied two shots (including the game-winning goal) and Pablo Kawecki logged on shot on goal.

Naeemy finished the match with six saves, compared to Panthers' Chiappa's three.
