PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Cleveland State University men's soccer team's match Tuesday night at Duquesne was stopped at halftime due to poor weather in the area.

The teams reached halftime with the score tied, 0-0, and lightning and heavy rain followed soon thereafter. The match was initially delayed, but after a wait of over an hour, it was determined the match would not continue Tuesday.

Head coach Kirk Harwat had started the same XI that delivered a 3-1 win over first-place UIC this past weekend. The group delivered a solid defensive effort, allowing the Dukes few good looks at goal. However, CSU was also unable to get much going offensively.

The teams were playing on a wet pitch, due to rain earlier in the day, which made footing problematic for both sides.

In the 22nd minute, junior Lawrence Karpeh got down the right flank toward the end line and sent a cross into the middle of the box, but no Viking could get on the end of it. Senior Noah Pio drew a foul just outside the side of the box late on in the half, but his subsequent free kick was blocked by defenders.

Duquesne's best chance of the half came early on in the match. The Vikings won a header off a corner kick, but the second ball fell to a Duke, whose shot was blasted over the bar.

The Vikings and Dukes combined for just three shots in the opening half. Alex Gyerman had made the lone save of the match, a routine stop from a long-distance effort.

Cleveland State will be back in action this Friday, Oct. 5, at Ohio State.
