Vikings Continue Home Stand on Saturday Night Against Oakland

FREE KICKS:

  • The Cleveland State men's soccer team (3-5-0) will continue its home stand when the Vikings will play their third straight home match at Krenzler Field Sat., Sept. 28.
  • CSU will play its first confernce match of the year on Saturday  at 7:30 p.m. against the Oakland Grizzlies.

WEEK FOUR RECAP:

  • The Vikings split last week at Krenzler Field, defeating Duquesne Wednesday night, 3-2, and fell to Buffalo 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.  Al James, Aslinn Rodas, and Jordan Hart provided the scoring for CSU in Wednesday's match. 

HART START:

  • Senior Jordan Hart is off to a great start in the 2013 season for the Vikings.
  • Hart has a team lead  with three goals on the season to go along with seven points through eight games.

SENIOR STAR:

  • Senior Horizon League First Team All-League selection Aslinn Rodas returns at midfield, coming off an excellent season.
  • Rodas scored his first goal on the year against Duquesne.

WORKING OT:

  • CSU won at Portland in double overtime 3-2 thanks to a Jordan Hart game winning goal.  The Vikings all-time record in overtime matches is 29-37-74.
  • The Vikings played seven overtime matches last season, winning four and playing to three ties.

GOALKEEPERS:

  • CSU has used all three goalkeepers on the roster through eight games.
  • Freshman Nick Ciraldo has started two games this season saving eight shots.  Ciraldo picked up his first win vs. Marshall (Sept. 8).
  • Sophomore Austin Saini has tallied 11 saves on the year and junior Joe Kalt has played in three matches saving eight shots.

ADMIR STRONG:

  • Senior first team All-Horizon League Admir Suljevic will continue to lead the Vikings offense at forward. 
  • Suljevic on the year so far, has two goals and four points  on the season.

ZACH ATTACK:

  • Senior defender Zach Ellis-Hayden was named to the All-Horizon League second team last year.
  • Ellis-Hayden scored his first goal of the year against Duquesne and has three points to go along with one assist. 

UP NEXT:

  •  The Vikings will finish a four game home stand, as the Vikings will play Cincinnati on Wednesday (Oct. 2) at 7:30 p.m. and will hit the road on Saturday (Oct. 5) to play UIC at 8:00 p.m.
