Vikings Lose Tough Match to Buffalo, 1-0

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State men's soccer team fell to Buffalo 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings (3-5-0) dominated most of the game, despite the loss.  The Vikings pressured the ball all 90 minutes and had chances to score, but fell short.

Buffalo's Russell Cicerone scored on a penalty kick in the second half at the 83:26 minute-mark which would be the only scoring the Bulls would need.  The Vikings had a great chance to tie the score at one with only four seconds left in the game. Cleveland State forward Alfonso Sandoval had a great look at the goal, but was blocked by Buffalo's goalkeeper Waleed Cassis as time expired.

CSU sophomore Danilo Radjen played an outstanding offensive game getting off two shots on goal and six shots overall.  Mike Derezic, Zach Ellis-Hayden, and Al James also played well on offense where they each attempted three shots.  Junior goalkeeper Joe Kalt wound up saving four shots on the afternoon for the Vikings.

The Vikings will continue the homestand at Krenzler Field, as the Vikings will face Oakland on Saturday (Sept. 28) at 7:30 p.m.  The match will be the Vikings first Horizon League conference match of the season.
