The Game
Cleveland State plays its second straight road game on Saturday against in-state opponent Ohio State at noon. Henry Blake made his first career start in goal, making 10 saves on the day to earn the win. Connor Cmiel caused four turnovers to earn Big 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors along with USILA Team of the Week recognition.

Last Game Out
The Vikings won their first-ever season opener on the road at VMI in overtime, 12-11. Connor Zwagerman scored the game-winner with 44 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to remain unbeaten against the Keydets all-time, 4-0.

About Ohio State
The Buckeyes started the season with an 11-8 victory over ASUN opponent, Utah at home on Saturday.

Familiar Face
Gannon Matthews was a three-year member of the Vikings before transferring to Ohio State this season. Matthews was a two-time All-Conference honoree for the Green and White. He was the ASUN Freshman of the Year and followed that up by receiving Midfielder of the Year recognition.

In his first game with OSU, Matthews led the team with six points and a career-high five goals en route to receiving Big 10 Offensive Player of the Week honors.

All-Time Series
The Vikings are 0-5 all-time against the Buckeyes but this will be the first time Ohio State isn't ranked during the contest. All the contests with OSU have occurred in Columbus.

ASUN POW Sweep
Following the season-opening win in overtime on Saturday, the Vikings swept the ASUN Player of the Week awards for the first time in program history. Parker Yearego was named ASUN Player of the Week and Connor Kernan was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.

Yearego, making his first collegiate start in the midfield, led all scorers with four goals and finished with a game-best five points after picking up an assist. The Rochester, Mich., native converted every shot that he took in the game. The hat-trick was also the first in his career.

Kernan, making his first collegiate start in goal, finished with 14 saves en route to his first career win. The senior helped the Green and White to a shutout in the first quarter after making six saves. The New Freedom, Pa., native also picked up two ground balls.

  • Won back-to-back games on seven occasions.

Captains of the Team
The Vikings named Amiri AustinKarson BurkeyGrayson DagueLane MillerReggie Regala, and Charlie Williams as captains for the upcoming 2024 season.

ASUN Poll
The Green and White were chosen to finish seventh for the second straight season in the preseason poll. Utah took the No. 1 spot after receiving nine first-place votes for 99 points. Jacksonville was second with 82 points and Air Force was third with a first-place vote and 80 points.

NEC in 2025
This will be the final season in the ASUN for Cleveland State before moving over to the NEC for the 2025 season. The Vikings will be one of four affiliated members of the seven-team NEC lacrosse conference, as the Green and White will be joined by fellow Horizon League members Detroit Mercy and Robert Morris. VMI is the fourth affiliated member and the other teams in the conference include core members, Le Moyne, LIU, and Wagner.

Season tickets for all six home games for the 2024 slate are now on sale for $30 per ticket. Single-game tickets will begin in February with prices set at $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 12 and under.
