Cleveland State Lacrosse Sweeps First ASUN Weekly Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. – Following the Cleveland State lacrosse season-opening win in overtime on Saturday, the Vikings swept the first ASUN Player of the Week awards. This marks the first sweep of awards in program history.

Parker Yearego was named ASUN Player of the Week and Connor Kernan was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.

Yearego, making his first collegiate start in the midfield, led all scorers with four goals and finished with a game-best five points after picking up an assist. The Rochester, Mich., native converted every shot that he took in the game. The hat-trick was also the first in his career.

Kernan, making his first collegiate start in goal, finished with 14 saves en route to his first career win. The senior helped the Green and White to a shutout in the first quarter after making six saves. The New Freedom, Pa., native also picked up two ground balls.

These two will look to lead Cleveland State on Saturday as they travel to Ohio State for a noon faceoff.
