Opening Faceoff
Cleveland State is set to begin the 2023 season on Saturday against No. 11 Ohio State with a noon start. This is the second straight year that the Vikings are opening their season in Columbus with the game taking place outdoors in their new stadium.

Scouting the Buckeyes
Ohio State opened its new stadium and season on Saturday with a 15-7 victory over Air Force. Jack Myers was named the Big Ten Player of the Week after putting up four goals and five assists for nine points.
Scott White also tallied four goals and Kyle Borda finished with a hat-trick. Drew Blanchard earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week recognition after going 22-of-26 in the faceoff circle with 12 ground balls. Skylar Wahlund made eight saves in the cage.
Series History
This will be the fifth meeting all-time against Ohio State with the Buckeyes winning all of the four previous contests. This will also be the fourth time that the Green and White have opened with Scarlet and Gray.

The Vikings remain on the road to face No. 7 Notre Dame on Sunday, Feb. 19 in South Bend, Indiana with a noon start.
Look Back at Last Season
The Vikings are coming off a 2022 campaign where they played their first-ever season in a conference, the ASUN. The Green and White went 3-7 on the year but were winless in conference play.
Returning Players
Gannon Matthews was named the ASUN Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference, and All-Freshman team this past year. He appeared in all 13 games as a midfielder, scoring 19 goals and adding 15 assists for 34 points.
Amiri Austin received All-Freshman Team recognition after playing in all 13 games at attack last season. On the year, Austin boasted five goals and six assists for 11 points.
ASUN Preseason Poll
Cleveland State was selected to finish seventh in the ASUN after receiving 38 points. Utah topped the poll with 92 points, Jacksonville was second with 90 points, and Robert Morris came in third with 85 points.
ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team
Matthews, a sophomore from Eagle, Idaho, was named to the preseason team as a midfielder.

Season tickets for all six home games for the 2023 slate are on sale for $50 per ticket. Single-game tickets are also available with prices set at $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 12 and under.
