Matt Manfredi Named a Candidate for the 2022 Lacrosse Senior Class Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Cleveland State University lacrosse player, Matt Manfredi was amongst the 20 candidates for the 2022 Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes men's lacrosse student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.

Classroom
Manfredi owns a 3.85 GPA and has been named to the President's List four times and Dean's List five times.

Character
Manfredi is a team captain for the Vikings and is also a member of SAAC and serves as the team's community service chairman.

Community
Manfredi has been an important contributor to the Cleveland State community during his time on campus. He set up an after-school program at the Urban Community School. As the point person, Manfredi designed/led practices, transported the team, and led the event for the school. He also organized for the entire Vikings team to help out at the local Cleveland Food Bank, providing food to thousands of families in need.

Competition
For his career, Manfredi has played in 43 games with six starts. He has scored seven goals and added five assists. In addition to his attacking statistics, Manfredi has picked up 44 ground balls and caused ten turnovers.

About the Award
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Next Step
The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches, and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character, and competition.

Announcement Date
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship in May.
