Cleveland State Lacrosse Has Three Named To USILA Scholar All-American List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the second straight year the Cleveland State lacrosse team was recognized by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, as the senior trio of Tristan Hanna, Quinn Lemke and Derek Radke were all named USILA Scholar All-Americans. The USILA announced the 2021 Division I Scholar All-Americans Thursday evening, with Cleveland State representing one of 14 schools to have three or more student-athletes on the list.

Hanna graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in criminology and psychology last month. Hanna played in all 46 games during his Viking career, finishing his time in the Green & White as the program record holder with 57 total goals. During the 2019 campaign, he posted 26 goals – a single-season record for the Vikings. Last year, Hanna recorded the game-tying and game-winning goals against Air Force, helping Cleveland State earn its first-ever victory over a nationally ranked team.

Lemke graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in communication studies & film, television and interactive media last month. Lemke started all 44 games that he appeared in throughout his Cleveland State career, and was part of a Viking defense that led the nation in riding (opponent clearing percentage) during the 2019 season. Off the field, Lemke was a three-year member of the CSU SAAC Executive Board and two-year SAAC Marketing Chair.

Radke graduated Cum Laude with a degree in business last month. Radke played in 44 games during his Viking career, and served as a team captain as a senior this season. Throughout his time in the Green & White, Radke combined for 13 goals and 19 assists, including an assist late in the game against Air Force that helped Cleveland State to its first-ever victory over a nationally ranked team.

The trio of Hanna, Lemke and Radke combined for 23 Cleveland State Dean's List honors, while they were also part of numerous community service initiatives throughout their careers - Cleveland State's Adaptive Lacrosse Day, Cleveland State's Community Day and the learn-to-play lacrosse academy at the Urban Community School to name a few.

In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. Each individual nominated is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Scholar All-America committee.

A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior-year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). He must have behaved in a manner that brought credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of the North/South All-Star team or an outstanding league or conference player.
