Cleveland State Falls to No. 8 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The Cleveland State University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana, 19-5.

THE GAME
Notre Dame began Saturday's contest scoring the first two goals at the 10:15 and 10:03 mark of the opening period. Ian McKissick responded for the Vikings, finding the back of the net for the first time this season, off of a Derek Radke assist with 8:41 left in the first quarter.

The Fighting Irish tacked on two more goals to end the first 15 with a 4-1 lead.

The No. 8 team in the nation scored within the opening minute of the second quarter before Chase Baker retaliated with a goal of his own at the 13:03 mark. Baker's fourth goal of the 2021 season was assisted by Dylan Warner.

Notre Dame added two more goals midway through the second frame, leading 8-2, until Baker notched his second goal of the game to make it 8-3 heading into halftime.

Brendan Sigurdson narrowed the deficit for the Green and White coming out of the game's intermission, scoring his fifth goal of the season at the 13:23 mark of the quarter.

The Fighting Irish scored the next seven goals before Radke found the back of the net in the closing seconds of the third quarter. 

Notre Dame added five more goals in the fourth quarter to take a 19-5 victory over the Vikings.
