Hanna Named to USILA Team of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Tristan Hanna of the Cleveland State University lacrosse team was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team of the Week Tuesday afternoon.

Hanna becomes the first Viking this season to claim the honor and joins teammates Brandon Ruditz and Zach Whitenack as the active Vikings to have earned this award.

Hanna played the leading role as Cleveland State claimed a milestone win this past weekend.

Hanna had a school-record seven goals as Cleveland State beat Air Force, 12-11, in overtime Saturday, which was CSU's first win over a nationally ranked opponent in program history. Hanna scored all four goals that CSU scored in the fourth quarter, including one to tie the game in the final minute and force overtime. He then scored the game-winner in overtime to cap off the milestone win, which was also the first win for first-year head coach Andy German. Hanna, who added four ground balls and two caused turnovers, needed just 10 shots to produce his seven tallies.

Hanna is one of just two DI players to score 7+ goals against a nationally ranked team this season. He also sits eighth among all Division I players in shooting percentage (.609), and he has taken the most shots among top eight in the rankings.

Hanna leads the team with 14 goals and 16 points on the season and is already more than halfway to his goal total from the 2019 season (26).

Four Vikings have been named to the USILA Team of the Week in CSU history, but Hanna is the first offensive player to achieve the feat.

Cleveland State will return to action Friday, March 6, when it welcomes Bellarmine to Krenzler Field.
