Men's Golf Participates in Sea Trail Invitational

The Cleveland State men's golf team traveled to Sunset Beach, N.C., to take part in the Sea Trail Intercollegiate, held at Rees Jones Course on September 15 and 16. The Vikings carded a 314-318--632 to take home a 12th place finish overall.

Junior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennan) led the Viking club, earning a share of 39th-place by shooting a 75-82--157. Freshman Lyle Wilkens finished one stroke back of Komsa, carding a 79-79--158 and tying for 42nd. One stroke behind Wilkens was junior P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius), who shot a 79-80--159 to put him in a tie for 48th.

The Charleston Southern golfers inked a 294-292--586 to win the tournament, finishing 24 strokes ahead of runner-up William & Mary. Tournament winner Tom Shupp of Charleston Southern won a tie-breaking playoff to edge teammate Paul Reed. The pair finished with scores of 76-67--143 and 72-71--143, respectively.

The team will next travel to the Players Club of Muncie, Ind. on September 22-23 for the Ball State Invitational.
