Men's Golfers Place 18th at Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

The Cleveland State men's golf team traveled to Yorktown, Ind., last weekend to compete in Ball State's Earl Yestingmeier Invitational. The team combined to card a final score of 291-297-317---905 for an 18th-place finish in the tournament.

The Vikings were led by junior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennan), who tied for 26th with a 73-69-77---219. Sophomore Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) finished two shots behind Komsa with a 73-73-75---221, putting him in a tie for 35th. Junior P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) shot a season-low opening round of 69 and finished with a final score of 69-77-87---233.

The linksters from the University of Louisville carded a 276-272-299---847 for the win, outshooting runner-up Western Kentucky by nine strokes. Individual winner Brad Morris of Eastern Kentucky held on to beat Western Kentucky's Brandon Waldrop by one stroke. Morris finished with 65-70-73---208 while Waldrop completed the tourney with a 68-69-72---209.

The Vikings will remain in Indiana for the Butler Fall Invitational on September 24 and 25. The team will then travel to Kentucky on Sept. 28 and 29 for the Eastern Kentucky Invitational.
