Muncie, Ind. - The Cleveland State men's golfers shot a 600 (302-298) in the first two rounds of Ball State's Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational on Saturday, giving them a 13th-place standing. The Vikings hold a three-stroke lead over Horizon League rival Loyola (305-298---603) at the Players Club of Muncie.
Freshman Mike Rutgers (Kingsville, Ontario/Cardinal Carter) shot a score of 145 (71-74) and stands tied for 13th individually, while seniors Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) and Billy Houle (Joliette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) posted two-round totals of 148 (74-74 and 75-73) and are deadlocked in 26th.
Northern Illinois leads the tournament with a 577 total (284-293), with team member Ethan Roush pacing the individual scoreboard with a 138 (68-70).
The third and final round gets underway Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. with tee times off holes #1 and #10.
