The Cleveland State men's golf team participated in the Butler Fall Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Club on September 24 and 25. The team combined to card a final score of 303-301-306---910 for an 9th-place finish in the tournament.
Junior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennan) again paced the Viking club, shooting a 74-71-74---219 and earning a tie for 5th. Sophomore Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) finished completed the tournament with a 77-73-76---226, placing him in a tie for 19th. Junior P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) carded a 74-79-77---230 to earn his share of the 36th-place finish.
The golfers from the University of Northern Iowa carded a 291-293-298---882 for the win, edging runner-up UW-Green Bay by three strokes. Individual winner Alex Bair of Northern Iowa held on to beat Evansville's Mike Birkenfeld by one stroke. Bair completed the Invitational with 70-75-70---215 while Birkenfeld finished with a 71-71-74---216.
The team will next travel to Wisconsin on Oct. 1 and 2 for the UW-Green Bay Invitational.
