LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas proved to be a not-so-gracious host for the third consecutive year, outdistancing the other 15 teams in the Kansas Invitational by 20 strokes. The host Jayhawks were led by medalist Gary Woodland, who finished at nine-under par (207) at the par 72, 7,092 yard Alvamar GC. Cleveland State struggled in Tuesday's final round en route to a 16th-place finish.

Kansas' two-under (862) was well clear of Iowa State and Nebraska, who finished in a tie for second at 882. The Vikings wound up at 932 after a final-round score of 319.

"I think it's safe to say we didn't have a very good day," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "Indiana State jumped from 12th to fifth today and that could have been us with a solid effort. The good thing is, it's a long season and we'll continue to work on getting better every week."

Woodland maintained his comfortable lead with an even-par 72 to best Houston's Jordan Irwin by four strokes. Illinois State's Matt Miller carded the tournament's low round with a 66 to gain sole possession of third at 213.

CSU sophomore Jake Scott finished in a tie for 48th at 232, while junior Doug Barber and freshman Patrick Elber were tied for 55th a shot further back.

The Vikings are in action again next week when they travel to the Chicago area for the DePaul John Dallio Memorial Invitational on Sept. 25-26.
