Avon, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team rallied from a ninth-place position after the opening round to finish second at the Cleveland State Men's Golf Invitational Tuesday with a final score of 963.

The Vikings finished up the first round in ninth with a score of 328 at a blustery Red Tail Golf Club but climbed to fourth before the day ended after carding a tournament-best 313 in the second round. CSU battled the elements on the final day and closed out the final round with a 322 to finish just eight strokes off the lead.

Senior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennan) led all Viking scorers, carding an 83-78-75---236 for a third-place tie. Senior P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) finished tied for ninth after shooting an 81-83-76---240 while junior Billy Houle (Joilette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) posted an 83-75-86---244 for a 17th-place tie.

The University of Dayton took top honors at the tournament after recording a 315-317-314---946 showing. Adam Meyers of UD was the individual medallist, carding a 76-75-77---228 and edging Jeff Chapman of Butler by three shots.

Three Horizon League schools finished behind the Vikings in the tournament, with fifth-place Butler finishing with a 968, eighth-place UW-Green Bay with a 977 and ninth-place Youngstown State with a 994.

The Cleveland State Men's Golf Invitational concludes the spring portion of the Vikings' regular season. CSU will travel to Dayton, Ohio for the Horizon League Championship hosted by Wright State on Apr. 28-29 at the Country Club of the North.
