Men's Golf Places Third at Butler Spring Invitational

AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State shot a final round 306 and finished third of 10 teams at the Butler Spring Invitational that concluded on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,960-yard Prestwick C.C.

CSU's 306 was tied for the second lowest round of the day and allowed the Vikings to maintain their third place standing.

IUPUI had the lowest round of the day with a 292 to move up from fifth place and win the event with a 595 total, three shots better than runner-up Dayton (598).

The Vikings were third at 606 and followed by Valparaiso (611), Detroit and Loyola, who tied for fifth at 612, Butler (613), Evansville (615), Robert Morris (640) and South Dakota (641).

Sophomore Andrew Bailey shot his second straight 74 to finish tied for sixth at 148. Junior Michael Klaric also tied for sixth at 148, following yesterday's 73 with a second round 75.

Brendan Byrne tied for 20th place (78-75 - 153), while Jon Riemer tied for 34th place at 157 (75-82). Michael Balcar rounded out CSU's lineup, tying for 43rd place at 160 (78-82).

CSU is now out of action until April 13-14 when the Vikings compete in the Detroit Titan Invitational.
