2004-05 - Sophomore Season

Named to the All-Horizon League team...led the team with a 75.6 scoring average and three top-five finishes...carded a school record 66 in the second round of the John Dallio Memorial (9/27) en route to a fourth-place finish at 217 (71-66-80)...closed with a final round 72 to move up to third (73-77-72) at the Dayton Spring Invitational (4/25-26) with a 222...finished fifth at the Joe Cole Invitational with a 235...was the team's top finisher in four events...registered a 73.6 scoring average in the fall...won the Western Ontario Amateur over the summer...set a pair of course records, carding a 61 at Erie Shores in Canada and a 63 at Hillendale GC in New York.

2003-04 - Freshman Season

Second on the team with a 76.3 scoring average...was the squad's top finisher in seven of 13 events...fired a season-best 70 in the opening round at the Butler Fall Invitational (9/23) en route to a sixth-place finish at 144...also posted a 71 at the Belmont Invitational (4/5) and at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational (10/4)...named Horizon League Golfer of the Week on March 24 after finishing 12th at the William & Mary Invitational (3/22-23).

High School

Won conference title as a junior...played one year of golf for Cardinal Carter...team finished fourth in WECSA championship and district championship...also played basketball, helping the team to the league championship.

Personal

Born May 19, 1984...son of Bill and Denise Rutgers...has two brothers, Warren and Scott, and a sister, Lisa...hopes to become a professional golfer or accountant...CSU Athletic-Academic Excellence Award recipient...came to Cleveland State after spending a year at St. Clair College...sport management major.
