Cleveland State Men’s Golf Second, Simms in Second Place Individually after Day One of Wright State Invitational

Springboro, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team posted a strong opening day in the final regular season event of the season at the Wright State Invitational. The Vikings sit in second place after a 6-over par day over the first 36 holes of play. Host Wright State leads the event with a 22-under total. Three individuals sit inside the top 20 in the standings with one in the top five.

Brody Simms continued his strong play finishing at 5-under for the day. Simms sits in second place, two shots back of Wright State's Andrew Flynn who leads the way at 7-under headed into tomorrow's final round. Simms carded rounds of 68 and 69 in the first two rounds. He carded eight birdies and an eagle on the day. 

Andrew Kaye sits just outside the top ten through two rounds. Kaye is 2-over after two rounds and sits in a tie for 12th. He posted rounds of 71 and 73 on Sunday. Kaye posted six total birdies through the first 36 holes.

Mason Frazier is the third Viking inside the top 20 in the individual race as he sits at 4-over par in 19th place. Frazier carded identical rounds of 73 in the first two rounds.

Alex Anderson is tied for 37th at 9-over par. Anderson posted a 73 in the opening round and a 79 in round two. Rounding out the lineup, Dominik Cosic is tied for 51st at 13-over. Cosic posted an 81 in the first round before rebounding with a 74 in the second round. Dillon Pendergast is tied for 57th at 15-over after rounds of 75 and 82. Playing as an individual, Ben Scheeff is tied for 51st as well at 13-over. Scheeff posted scores of 83 and 72 on day one. 

The third and final round of the tournament begins tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available on Golf Genius throughout the tournament.
