Cleveland State Men’s Golf Third, Frazier Tied for Ninth after Day One at NKU Jewell Invitational

Batavia, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team posted a strong opening day at the Jewell Invitational hosted by Northern Kentucky. The Vikings posted a 7-over par team total over 36 holes to sit in third place in the team standings. Cleveland State is five shots back of Oakland who sits in second place, and trails team leader Wright State by 16 shots headed into the third and final round.

Mason Frazier is in the top ten in the individual race after two steady rounds. Frazier posted a 1-over 72 in the opening round and followed up with a 1-under 70 in the second round to sit at even par for the tournament in a tie for ninth place. Frazier posted six birdies in his first 36 holes. 

Andrew Kaye sits just outside the top ten after finishing at 2-over par through the first two rounds. Kaye posted the lowest round of the day for the Vikings with a 2-under 69 in the opening round. He posted a 4-over 75 in round two to finish the day in a tie for 16th. Kaye carded five total birdies in his opening round, including three in a four-hole stretch from holes 15-18. 

Brody Simms is close behind at 3-over par through 36 holes. Simms posted rounds of 72-73 to close in a tie for 19th. Simms also posted six birdies on the day.

Dillon Pendergast is tied for 40th at 6-over par after matching rounds of 3-over 74. Dominik Cosic is tied for 45th at 8-over. Cosic posted a 79 in the opening round before rebounding with an even par 71 in his second round. 

The third and final round of the tournament is set for Sunday morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Live scoring can be found on Golf Genius throughout the final round.
