Simms Finishes Tied for Fourth, Cleveland State Men’s Golf Fifth at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Seiverville, TN-The Cleveland State men's golf team wrapped up the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a fifth-place finish. The Vikings posted a 15-over 299 on day three to finish at 46-over par for the three-day event.

Brody Simms recorded his highest finish of the season finishing tied for fourth individually. Simms posted a 1-under 70 to move up 15 spots on the individual leader board and record a top-five finish. Simms started hot out of the gates opening his round with three straight birdies. He backed it up with six consecutive pars to finish the front nine at 3-under 32. He closed with an additional birdie on the 18th hole to finish in red numbers for the day and post a 5-over total for 54 holes. Simms played the par-4's as well as any player in the field, finishing at 4-over on those holes which tied for the best mark in the field.

Andrew Kaye finished tied for 26th overall after posting a third round 76. Kaye recorded two birdies in the round which both came on the front side. Kaye finished at 13-over for the tournament.

Mason Frazier finished at 17-over in 38th place and Alex Anderson finished at 18-over in a tie for 39th. Frazier posted an 81 in the third round. Anderson posted his lowest round of the week finishing with a 2-over 73 which included three birdies over his final nine holes. Anderson closed out his first competitive appearance of the season after missing the fall and early spring season due to an injury.

Dillon Pendergast closed with an 80 in the final round to finish tied for 52nd at 21-over par. Individually, Ben Scheeff finished tied for 67th at 25-over par and Dominik Cosic finished tied for 78th at 28-over.

The Vikings finished with the second-most total birdies in the field, carding 33 total birdies over three rounds. 

Cleveland State returns to action on April 1-2 as the Vikings travel to Indianapolis for the Butler Spring Invitational.
