Cleveland State Men’s Golf 16th after Day One at Wexford Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, SC-The Cleveland State men's golf team sits in 16th place at 40-over par following the opening 36 holes at the Wexford Intercollegiate. The Vikings posted a 23-over 311 in the opening round and improved by six strokes in the afternoon round for a 17-over par 305 to close out the day.

Freshman Dillon Pendergast posted the low 36-hole total for the Vikings, finishing at 7-over 151 in a tie for 39th place. Pendergast got off to a fast start carding three birdies in his first nine holes to finish at 1-under 35 on the front side. He posted 3-over 39 on the back for a 2-over 74 total. He followed that with a 5-over 77 in round two. Pendergast carded an eagle-3 on the par-5 15th hole in the second round and was one of four players in the field to make an eagle in the first two rounds.

Mason Frazier was close behind, carding an 8-over total of 152 for a tie for 45th place. Frazier posted a 6-over 78 in the opening round before rebounding with a 2-over 74 in round two. Frazier totaled four birdies on the day, two in each round.

Brody Simms is tied for 67th at 12-over par through 36 holes. Andrew Kaye is one shot back at 13-over in a tie for 72nd. Domink Cosic is 26-over in a tie for 89th.

The Vikings return to the course tomorrow for the third and final round which begins at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start. Cleveland State will start on holes 15-17 for the final 18 holes.
