Cleveland State Golf Programs Picked Sixth in #HLGOLF Preseason Poll

Cleveland, OH-The Horizon League announced today the Preseason Poll for men's and women's golf as voted on by league coaches ahead of the 2024 spring season. Cleveland State's men's and women's teams are each picked to finish sixth in their respective polls to begin the season.

On the men's side, the Vikings finished with 58 points in the ten-team race, just behind fifth-place Northern Kentucky who finished with 61. Wright State is picked to win the league after finishing with 99 points.

Cleveland State will rely upon a mix of veteran returning talent and young players in the mix for the first time this spring. Andrew Kaye and Brody Simms look to continue their success after starting all of last year, and Mason Frazier will provide upperclassman depth in the lineup. Three freshmen, who all saw action for the first time in the fall season, will compete for the remaining lineup spots. Dominik Cosic, Dillon Pendergast and Ben Scheeff will look to finish strong in their first season in green and white.

The women's team finished with 31 points, slightly behind a tie for fourth between Purdue Fort Wayne and Green Bay who each finished with 39 points. The Vikings must replace Sabrina Coffman, who won the program's first Horizon League Individual Championship last spring to wrap up her career in green and white. Mandie Ruminski, Olivia Swain and Brynna Mardis all return to the lineup after playing critical roles last season. Freshmen Kaitlin Kormuth and Lola Barnett will embark on their inaugural spring campaign, after seeing their first collegiate action this past fall.

Both teams will play a competitive spring tournament schedule leading up to the Horizon League Championship in late April. The men will tee it up first at the Wexford Intercollegiate scheduled for February 19-20. The women will see their first action of the spring later that week at the Mission Inn Match Play Challenge. The tournament will take place at Mission Inn Resort in Florida, the site of the Horizon League Championship.

In addition, Cleveland State will host the Nevel Meade Invitational scheduled for March 18-19 at Nevel Meade Golf Club in Prospect, Kentucky.
