Cleveland State Golf Program Signs Two in 2023 Signing Class

Cleveland, OH-Head men's and women's golf coach Steve Weir has announced the addition of two student-athletes set to join the program next fall as part of the 2023 signing class. Ryan Dinan(Akron, OH) will join the men's program and Chloe Holton(Rocky River, OH) is the newest addition to the women's program.

"I'm very excited to add two high-quality individuals to our program," said Coach Weir. "Both are accomplished players who will fit in well with our current student-athletes. Both are also very talented academically and will be great additions to our team culture. I'm looking forward to getting them on campus and having them as part of our Viking family."

Dinan comes to Cleveland State as a standout performer from Coventry High School. He is a two-time Player of the Year in the Metro Atlantic Conference and has qualified for the state championship tournament twice as an individual. He holds the nine-hole school record with a 35, and set the 18-hole tournament scoring record with a 65 at the Griffiths Cup. He carries a nine-hole scoring average of 35.1 and and 18-hole average of 73.1. As a team, Dinan helped to lead Coventry to three top-10 finishes in four years at the OHSAA Sectionals.

Dinan was named to the Merit Roll at Coventry HS, as well as participating in multiple sports outside of golf throughout his high school career. He is joined by his parents, David and Nicole. David is a PGA Member and played collegiate golf at the University of Akron. Dinan has one sibling, his brother Matthew.  

Holton joins the Viking program after a great career at Rocky River High School. She was named MVP of the Lake Erie Girls Golf Association this season and is a two-time First-Team All-Conference honoree and two-time Team MVP. She was named first-team All-District twice and qualified for the State District Tournament this year. Holton carries a nine-hole scoring average of 38.6 and an 18-hole average of 79.6. She helped lead Rocky River to a combined 39-2 team record over the past two seasons, in addition to back-to-back conference championships.

Holton is also a member of National Honor Society as well as numerous volunteer opportunities. She is joined by her parents Scott and Carianne, as well as her two sisters, Hadley and Eliza.
