Cleveland State Men’s Golf Finishes Tied for Fourth at Horizon League Championship

Howey in the Hills, FL-The Cleveland State men's golf team capped its season finishing tied for fourth in the Horizon League Championship Tournament at Mission inn Resort. The Vikings posted a 14-over par 302 in the final round to finish at 37-over for the three-round event, tied with IUPUI. 

It marked the final tournament for three seniors, Gunnar McCollins, Jack Hanus and David Laib

McCollins finished in a tie for 14th place individually to lead the way for the Vikings. McCollins carded an even par 72 in the final round. He finished strong on the back nine, starting with back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11 to post a 1-under 36 in his final nine holes of the week. 

Hanus finished at 10-over par in a tie for 19th place. He ended with a 5-over 77 on day three. The highlight of his round was knocking his approach to the 18th hole to kick-in range to finish with a birdie on the final hole of his collegiate career. 

Andrew Kaye and Brody Simms each finished in a tie for 21st place at 11-over par. Kaye closed with a 3-over 75 in the final round. He got off to a fast start with a birdie at the opening hole and sprinkled in two more throughout his round. Kaye totaled 11 birdies for the week which was tied for the third most in the field. Simms also made three birdies in his final 18 holes in posting a 7-over 79. 

Laib finished in a tie for 34th place at 18-over par. He closed out his Cleveland State career with a 6-over 78 in the final round.
