Cleveland State Men’s Golf Fourth after Two Rounds at Horizon League Championship

Howey in the Hills, FL-The Cleveland State men's golf team posted a 10-over 298 on day two of the Horizon League Championship tournament at Mission Inn Resort. The Vikings are a combined 23-over par for the two rounds and in fourth place in the team race, 19 shots back of Purdue Fort Wayne who leads the field at 4-over par. 

Brody Simms sits just outside of the top-10 with 18 holes remaining after posting a 2-over round of 74. Simms had four birdies on the day, three of which came on a rollercoaster back nine which also included a hole out from the fairway for par at the 17th hole. Simms is 4-over par for the tournament. 

Jack Hanus is close behind sitting at 5-over through 36 holes after a 77 on day two. Cleveland State started on the back nine in the second round and Hanus got it going early with an eagle at the par-5 10th hole. Hanus posted a 1-under 36 on the back nine but struggled on the front side finishing with a 6-over 41. 

Gunnar McCollins and Andrew Kaye are each tied for 25th at 8-over par through two rounds. McCollins posted a 4-over 76 in the second round, including a stellar back nine with three birdies for a 3-under 34. Kaye finished with a 1-over 73 which included five total birdies for the day. 

Rounding out the Viking lineup, David Laib is in 36th place with a 12-over par total through two rounds. Laib shot 75 in round two which was a six-shot improvement from yesterday's opening round.
