Cleveland State Men’s Golf in Second Place after Day One of Wright State Invitational

Springboro, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team got off to a great start in the Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club. The Vikings sit in second place overall with a two-round total of 28-over par, nine shots back of host Wright State. Two CSU players are also in the top-10 individually as well. Five of the six Vikings in the lineup are inside the top 20 and ties through two rounds. 

Gunnar McCollins is tied for third after shooting back-to-back rounds of 73. McCollins sits at 4-over par through two rounds. He made six birdies throughout the day, five of which came on par-5's. McCollins is four shots back of Wright State's Shane Ochs who leads the tournament at even par. 

Jack Hanus is in seventh place at 7-over par through two rounds. Hanus carded 77 in round one but came back with a 1-over 72 in the second round to finish the day strong. Hanus made an eagle two on the opening hole and added a birdie on the 16th hole as part of his second round. 

Andrew Kaye sits in a tie for 11th through 36 holes at 9-over par. Kaye opened with a 76 and followed it up with a 75 in round two. Brody Simms is tied for 17th after posting rounds of 74 and 79 to sit at 11-over par. Alex Anderson is one shot behind at 12-over with rounds of 78-76. Rounding out the lineup, David Laib is tied for 25th at 13-over par after posting scores of 77 and 78. 

The Vikings will tee it up tomorrow in the third and final round of the tournament which is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. This will be the final test for the Vikings before next week's Horizon League Championship.
