Hanus in Second Place, Cleveland State Men’s Golf Fourth after Day One of Jewell Invitational

Batavia, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team is in fourth place after 36 holes at the Jewell Invitational. The Vikings sit at 6-over par with a 574 team total. Host Northern Kentucky leads the field with a 4-under total through two rounds. 

Jack Hanus sits in second place at 4-under par. Hanus is three shots back of Bellarmine's Ballard Harris who leads the tournament at 7-under with one round to go. Hanus carded rounds of 70-68 to finish the day in red figures. Hanus finished the day with 10 birdies which was tied for the second most in the field. He specifically exceled on the par-4's, finishing 4-under on those holes with a 3.82 scoring average, which was good for the second-best average in the field. 

David Laib and Alex Anderson are each tied for 20th place sitting at 2-over par through 36 holes. Anderson improved by six shots in round two, carding a 2-under 69 after posting a 75 in the first round. Anderson finished with five birdies in the second round. Laib also improved in the second round, finishing with an even par 71 after shooting 73 in round one. Laib closed with a 2-under 33 and finished bogey free on the back nine in the second round. 

Brody Simms is tied for 35th at 6-over par. Andrew Kaye is tied for 77th at 18-over. Mason Frazier, playing as an individual, is tied for 54th at 9-over par. 

Round three is scheduled for tomorrow morning with tee times off of split tees. The Vikings are scheduled to start on the first tee with tee times beginning at 9:10 a.m.
