Cleveland State Men’s Golf in 16th Place after Two Rounds at ECU Intercollegiate

Greenville, NC-The Cleveland State men's golf team is in 16th place after the first day of the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Country Club. The Vikings carded a 36-hole total of 616 (+40). The day began with a 27-over par 315 in the first round. CSU improved on that total by 14 shots in round two, carding a 13-over 301. 

Host East Carolina leads the field at 11-over par with half of the field still yet to complete the second round. 

Andrew Kaye had the low individual total for the Vikings on day one. Kaye currently sits in a tie for 32nd place at 7-over par through two rounds. Kaye started with a 4-over 76 in round one and followed it up with a 3-over 75 in round two. The Vikings started on the back nine and Kaye got off to a great start. He finished his first nine with an even par 36 which included two birdies. He finished with a 40 on the front nine to card 76. 

In the second round, Kaye had nine hole scores of 38-37 to finish with a 3-over total of 75. Kaye made five birdies on the day which was tied for the second most on the team. 

David Laib is tied for 55th place after shooting 76-78 for a two-round total of 10-over par. Gunnar McCollins is tied for 68th after finishing with a 13-over score through 36 holes. McCollins shot 83 in the first round and improved by nine shots in the second round, finishing with a 2-over 74. 

Jack Hanus and Brody Simms are both tied for 75th place at 14-over par. Hanus carded rounds of 80-78 and Simms also improved greatly in round two, shooting 74 after carding an 84 in round one. 

Mason Frazier, competing individually, is tied for 86th with a two-round total of 18-over par. 

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the third and final round. The day begins with the back half of the field finishing up round two and the third round beginning shortly after. Fans can follow along on Golfstat for live scoring throughout the day.
