Cleveland State Men’s Golf 11th after Day One of Wexford Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, SC-The Cleveland State men's golf team sits in a tie for 11th place after 36 holes at the Wexford Intercollegiate. The Vikings are 29-over par overall. CSU started with a 310 (+22) in the morning round and posted a 15-shot improvement in the second 18, carding a 7-over 295 in round two. Francis Marion leads the team race at five over par through 36 holes. 

Individually, Gunnar McCollins had the low round of the day for Cleveland State. McCollins fired a 3-under par 69 in the second round which puts him in a tie for 15th place at 2-over for the tournament. McCollins carded five birdies throughout the round against just one blemish, a double bogey on no. 12, in posting the three under total. McCollins made seven birdies on the day, the most by any CSU player. 

Jack Hanus is eight over for the tournament and in a tie for 43rd place overall. Hanus fired an even par 72 in the second round, an eight-shot improvement from round one. He shot one over 37 on the front nine and finished with a one-under 35 on the back nine. Hanus made three birdies in the second round. 

Andrew Kaye is tied for 52nd at nine over after 36 holes. Kaye had the low round of the morning session for the Vikings, finishing at four-over 76. He followed it up with a five-over 77 in the second round. Kaye also totaled five birdies on the day. 

In addition, Brody Simms is tied for 59th at 10-over for the tournament, and David Laib is tied for 78th at 15 over par. 

Francis Marion's Grant Sellers leads the individual race at five-under par through two rounds.
