Men’s Golf jumps a spot, finishes fourth overall at Horizon League Championships

FINAL RESULTS

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Cleveland State men's golf program posted its best round by 10 strokes as the Vikings jumped up one spot to take fourth overall on the final day of the 2022 Horizon League Championships, which concluded at the Mission Inn Resort & Club on Tuesday.

CSU recorded a final round of 2-over (290), the fourth-best showing of the day. For the championship, the Vikes knocked in 164 pars (third-most) and 35 birdies (fifth).

Zach Robbins led the Vikings at the championship with a three-day total of 3-over. He finished his final round with a 1-over, 73 to improve two spots from Monday. Robbins tied for first with 38 pars over the event. He also ranked tied for 17th with eight birdies. 

Jules Blakely and Jack Hanus both tied for 22nd at 10-over, respectively. Blakely had a great final round as he posted a 1-over, 73, seven strokes better from the previous day. He jumped up five spots with his final-round performance. Hanus continued his steady tournament with a 4-over, 76. Blakely recorded the sixth-most holes of par at the championship (36) while Hanus was tied for third in the category (37). 

Zak Supelak leaped up five positions with an even 72 on Tuesday. It was his best round of the tournament by six strokes. Supelak concluded the championship with 30 pars (tied for 24th at the championship) and eight birdies (tied for 17th). He finished in a tie for 27th overall at 12-over.

Gunnar McCollins rounded out the CSU attack with his best round of the championship. He posted an even 72, a 12-stroke improvement from the second round. He ended the competition with 23 pars and nine birdies. McCollins totaled a 15-over overall, good for a tie for 30th.

That wraps up the 2021-22 Golf season for the Cleveland State Vikings. Announcements on incoming signees and the 2022-23 season will be available in the future on CSUVikings.com.
