Men’s Golf takes sixth at NKU’s The Jewell

FINAL RESULTS

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Cleveland State men's golf program played to a sixth-place finish at Northern Kentucky's The Jewell at Elks Run Golf Course on Monday. The tournament served as the final test for the Vikings before the Horizon League Championships, which takes place at the end of April outside of Orlando, Fla. 

Zach Robbins paced CSU with a tied for sixth finish at 4-over. He tied for sixth at the tournament with seven birdies. He also posted 19 pars over the two rounds.

Zak Supelak and Jack Hanus were right behind in a tie for 23rd and 27th, respectively, with 8-over and 9-over performances. Supelak tied for the tourney lead with one eagle. He also added 18 holes of par and four birdies while Hanus finished the two rounds with 20 pars and four birdies.

Gunnar McCollins rounded out the Vikings scoring attack in a tie for 38th at 11-over. McCollins had a stellar second round, as he improved nine strokes from Sunday's play to jump 17 spots in the standings.

Andrew Kaye (5-over, tied for 11th), David Laib (10-over, tied for 31st) and Mason Frazier (17-over, tied for 56th) also competed for the Vikes as individuals.

As a unit, Cleveland State finished with the third-most birdies at the event with 25 in total. The group also ranked in a tie for third with one eagle.

The Vikings fully turn their attention to championship season as CSU will take on the conference at the Horizon League Championships, set for Sunday, April 24 through Tuesday, April 26 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
