Men’s Golf puts itself in striking distance after opening round of Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Cleveland State men's golf team played itself towards the front of the pack with the Vikings in sixth-place as a group after the opening round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech at the Sevierville Golf Club on Monday.

As a unit, CSU shot 4-over on the round, led by Jules Blakely's 1-under 71 performance. Blakely finished the opening 18 tied for the most pars in the tournament with 15 overall. He also added two birdies. 

Jack Hanus and Zach Robbins were right behind as the duo both turned in scorecards of 1-over 73's, respectively, to slot into a tie for 24th in the tournament. Hanus and Robbins each recorded 12 pars to go with three birdies apiece.

Gunnar McCollins (3-over 75) and Zak Superlak (8-over 80) rounded things out for the Vikes in ties for 44th and 80th overall. McCollins also knocked in three birdies on the round.

The final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate will get underway with a shotgun start on Tuesday (March 14) at 10 AM ET. CSU fans and supporters can follow along with the live results of the final round here.
