Men’s Golf heads South for Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

LIVE RESULTS

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State men's golf team is set for Tennessee Tech's three-round Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, slated for one round per day, Sunday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 15.

The tournament will serve as the Vikings third competition of the Spring as they continue to work towards the Horizon League Championships in late April.

"We are looking forward to an event that we have not played in before," director of CSU golf Steve Weir said. "We hope to continue seeing progress in all phases of our games as we work through the Spring season."

The team saw a big leap in finish in their last time out with a sixth-place performance at the Orlando Invitational, a 10-spot improvement from the season-opening, and rust-busting, Wexford Intercollegiate.

Zach Robbins, Jules Blakely, Zak Supelak, Jack Hanus and Gunnar McCollins will all compete for Cleveland State at the intercollegiate.

The Sevierville Golf Club will host the tournament on its River Course, which was recently recognized by Golf Advisor as one of the top 50 U.S. courses. The course plays at par-72 (6,891 yards) and lays across the Little Pigeon River.

The field of 90-plus student-athletes will take to a shotgun start and play one round on each day. With 16 teams in attendance, it will make it the largest field the tournament has fielded in its history.

Competing teams include: Alabama A&M, Bellarmine, Binghamton, Carson-Newman, Detroit Mercy, Findlay, Marshall, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Oral Roberts, Roane State CC, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Walters State CC.

Recaps of each day of action will be featured on CSUVikings.com.
