Men’s Golf places four in Top-27 at Orlando Invitational

FINAL RESULTS (THREE ROUNDS - GOLFGENIUS)

 

ORLANDO – The Cleveland State men's golf program wrapped up its stay at the Orlando Invitational with four student-athletes in the Top-27 and a sixth-place finish overall at the Mission Inn Resort, El Campeon Golf Course on Tuesday.

Jack Hanus finished as the top Viking at six-over, after a final round 74. He had eight birdies and 36 pars for the tournament, tied for seventh at the event overall in pars.

Right behind in a tie for 22ndwas Zach Robbins at seven-over. He also tied for seventh in the tournament with 36 holes of par and added six birdies.

Jules Blakely and Zak Supelak finished in a tie for 27that nine-over, respectively. Blakely recorded six birdies to 34 pars while Supelak sunk seven birdies to go with 33 pars.

Gunnar McCollins (T-50, 16-over), Andrew Kaye (T-53, 17-over), Mason Frazier (T-53, 17-over) and David Laib (T-57, 19-over) also competed for Cleveland State.

The competition served as a preview of the Horizon League Championship course and fellow conference programs, as seven Horizon League teams were a part of the 11-team field. The Vikes finished as the fifth conference team in the field as the group continues to get the winter rust off.

CSU placed 10 spots higher at the Orlando Invitational than the Spring-season opening Wexford Intercollegiate.

The Vikings will next hit the links with the Seattle Invitational that tees off on Monday, April 4.
