Three Vikings in Top 20 After Day One of Flyers Invitational

DAYTON, Ohio – Junior Jonny Filler is tied in second overall after shooting rounds of 71-70 on day one of the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Monday on the NCR Country Club course.

DAY ONE RECAP

Filler shot a par-even 71 in the first round and followed with a one-under par 70 to bring his day one total to 141. The junior shot six total birdies and fired a rare eagle in hole 10 of the second round.

Filler is currently one stroke behind medalist leader Blake Solomon of Dayton entering Tuesday's final round. Solomon earned rounds of 71-69 for a day one score of 140.

Led by Filler, Cleveland State is in fifth place in the team standings after day one with rounds of 298-290, for a total of 588. Wright State leads the tournament with 571 strokes after day one.

Senior Zach Robbins also earned a top-10 spot in day one with rounds of 72 and 71 to tie him for sixth place overall. Gunnar McCollins represented the Vikings' third top-20 finisher of the day with rounds of 75-72. The junior is tied in fourteenth after day one.

Jules Blakely is tied in 54th with rounds of 80-77 for a day one score of 157. Rounding out the Vikes' lineup, Jack Hanus collected rounds of 84-81 to land in 67th place after day one.

Zak Supelak and David Laib are competing individually in this event. Supelak rebounded from an opening round of 78 with a second round of 71, earning him 23rd place in the medalist chase. Laib is tied in 41st place after posting rounds of 74 and 78.

The final 18 holes will be contested on Tuesday (Oct. 19) over the NCR Country Club South Course with teams beginning final round play at 9 a.m.
