Cleveland State Men's Golf Finishes Joe Feaganes Invitational 14th

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Junior Gunnar McCollins fired a final round of 77 and finished tied for 42nd overall to lead Cleveland State men's golf team in Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Tuesday at the Guyan Golf & Country Club.

McCollins turned in rounds of 74-72-77 to finish with a 54-hole score of 223 to lead the Vikings in their second tournament of the season.

Jules Blakely finished second for the Vikings, tying for 47th among individuals, and scored a 54-hole total of 224. He concluded with a 74 after recording rounds of 74-76 on day one of the tournament and rose 11 spots from his day one ranking.

Cleveland State finished 14th in the team scoring with a total of 899. The Vikings opened tournament play with rounds of 294 and finished with a total of 306 over the final 18 holes on day two.

Marshall earned a team score of 287 in the second day of the tournament to finish first in the field with a 54-hole total of 845. Tyler Goecke of Wright State was the medalist after shooting rounds of 68-69-68 for a two-day score of 205

Senior Zach Robbins finished the tournament with a score of 79 in the final 18 holes for a total score of 226. Fellow senior Zak Supelak shot a 76 on Tuesday, also for a two-day total of 226 strokes. Both Vikings finished tied for 66th.

David Laib added a round of 79 on day two to his day one scores of 76-82. He tied for 89th

overall with a two-day total of 237. 

Junior Jonny Filler competed as an individual during the tournament and concluded play with an 81. He fired rounds of 73-74 on day one and was tied for 72nd overall with a score of 228.

The Vikings return to competition on Sept. 20-21 at the Davidson Intercollegiate Event.
