Cleveland State Men's Golf Opens Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Sixth Place

VERONA, N.Y. -- Senior Zach Robbins carded 143 as his 36-hole score to lead Cleveland State on day one of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate event on Sunday at the Kaluhyat Course.

Robbins began the tournament with a two-below par round of 70, followed by a one-over 73 for his second set of 18 holes. His 36-hole mark was 143, tying him for 14th place among individual competitors. His opening round of 70 was the fifth-best score among all golfers for the first round of play.

Thanks to strong performances from Robbins and others, Cleveland State finished day one 6th out of 15 teams with an aggregate score of 589. LSU leads the field with a score of 554, and Missouri, the Turning Stone runner-up in 2019, is currently in second place with a score of 565.

Senior Jules Blakely shot rounds of 73-75 over the par-72, 6,803-yard course, tying for 26th after the first day's play.

Sophomore Mason Frazier carded rounds of 77-72 in his collegiate debut and is tied for 31st overall, jumping up fourteen spots in the rankings thanks to his strong second round.

Senior Zak Supelak is tied for 36th after carding scores of 73 and 77, and junior David Laib is tied for 56th after posting 78-76. All five Cleveland State golfers landed in the top two thirds of the rankings after day one.
