DAYTON, Ohio - The Vikings men's golf team wrapped up their first day at the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate on Monday in seventh place. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday afternoon after the final 18 holes are played.
The Green and White had an incredibly impressive second round on Monday, shooting 279, which marked the fourth-lowest score amongst all 12 teams in day one.
Zak Supelak had a historic day on the links, as he sits tied for second place shooting five-under-par (72-63, 135). The senior's round of 63 ties the record for lowest individual round in program history. Supelak tied head coach Steve Weir's 63 set back in 2006 at the Belmont Intercollegiate.
Zach Robbins (75-72, 147) and Gunnar McCollins (78-69, 147) finished the first 36 holes tied for 42nd, as both Vikings sit +7 heading into the final day. McCollins' nine-shot improvement from the first to the second round marks a team-best on the day.
Jonny Filler (75-75, 150) ended the day 10-over-par, while Jules Blakely (74-77, 151) is tied for 53rd at 11-over.
Supelak and the Vikings look to close out the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate on Tuesday, as the Green and White will play 18.
