INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Cleveland State men's golf team finished their first day of the Butler Invitational in sixth place of 11 total teams. The Green and White saw a five-stroke improvement from the first 18 holes to the second, registering a score of 301-296, 597 (+37).
Jack Hanus leads the Vikings on the leaderboard tied for 21st place shooting 73-74, 147 (+7) through the first 36 holes. The junior from Bowing Green tallied four birdies on the day, three of which came in the first round.
Senior Jules Blakely sits two strokes behind Hanus (+9) in 29th place recording scores of 75-74, 149. Blakely, a native of Westlake, Ohio, played in eight events in Cleveland State's shortened 2019-20 season, posting five top-20 finishes and a stroke average of 75.7.
Zak Supleak (79-73, 152) ended the first day of the tournament one stroke ahead of Zach Robbins (78-75, 153) and Jonny Filler (75-78, 153). Supleak, who improved by six strokes in the second round, has the best improvement from the first to the second round by any Viking in the Butler Invitational thus far.

"It felt so good to finally be back out and doing what we love to do. Our guys have watched every other team at CSU compete this year and we're really excited to get their chance!
