DAY ONE RECAP

DAYTON, Ohio – Junior Jules Blakely is in second place overall after shooting rounds of 72-70 on the opening day of the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Monday on the NCR Country Club course.

Blakely opened his tournament by shooting a one-over par 72, which featured two birdies. He came back to shoot a one-under par 70 on his second 18 holes of the day, which included six birdies.

Blakely trails tournament leader Bryce Haney of Wright State by just one shot entering Tuesday's final round. Haney shot rounds of 72-69 and has a total of 141, while Blakely is second with a 142.

Led by Blakely, Cleveland State is currently in third place in the team standings after posting rounds of 294-296. Wright State leads the tournament with a 578 total, while Oakland is second with a score of 589 and the Vikings are third with a total of 590.

Jack Hanus is also in the top 10 after day one as he fired rounds of 75 and 72 to tie for ninth place overall. Hanus had a total of four birdies on the day, which included two birdies in each round.

Gunnar McCollins is tied for 34th overall after shooting rounds of 74-78.

Zach Robbins is tied for 38th overall with a 153 total, while David Laib has a total of 157 and is tied for 57th overall.

The final 18 holes will be contested on Tuesday (Oct. 15) over the NCR Country Club South Course with teams beginning final round play at 9 a.m.
